Richard Mayor Racing in the Rain…

This is a 7 minute  edited video of Richard Mayor racing in the rain at last years All British Field  Meet. Actually, it was the “Battle of Britain” handicap race put on by  the Canadians.

Part wanted

From Austin Colcord:

I’m looking for a 100-4 drivetrain for my bn2, and thought it would be best to start my search with club members.  You never know what someone might have in their garage!

If you can help him send him an email at austin.colcord at lifelock.com

32nd Annual LeMay Car Show & Auction,Aug.29

We would like to get a group together to attend this event only held 1 day a year at the museum. On this day you can visit the LeMay Museum at Marymount Academy and the private LeMay home grounds in Tacoma, WA. You’ll see over 1,000 vehicles mixed with exhibits, dolls, antiques, and specialty items. If we show up as a group at 8AM Saturday, August 29th ,we can park our cars on the grounds for display. We would need to travel up the day before and stay at a convenient motel so that we can be there early to set up and show our cars.  Please visit the website for much more information.

We have secured a group rate of $99 at the Tacoma Dome Best Western for Aug.28 for a king room or 2 queens. The hotel is located at 2611 E. E St. right next to the Tacoma Dome. The phone number is 253-272-7737. Please mention you are a member of the Austin Healey Club to get the group rate.

All British Field Meet Volunteers Needed

As you likely know, the ABFM is produced by a consortium of Oregon-based British car clubs.  Each club has one or more responsibilities for the Meet each year.  Besides the fun and enjoyment of the weekend, the host clubs split any profits the Meet earns, which is a significant amount of our annual club income.

The AHCO is responsible for tallying the People’s Choice ballots.  To accomplish that, we need about 24 volunteers for most of Saturday of the Meet.  In exchange for giving up much of Saturday, you’ll have a cool (or dry, depending on the weather) place to hang out, we’ll feed you lunch and provide cold beverages, and you’ll receive a much-coveted ABFM Worker Bee t-shirt, which is almost nearly guaranteed to clash with anything else in your wardrobe.  I’ll be soliciting for volunteers at the Club meeting tomorrow and at next month’s meeting.  If you miss signing up at the Club meeting and would be willing to volunteer for this duty, please leave your name in the comments section and tell me what size t-shirt you would like to receive as your keepsake reward.

Thanks for your help.

Bonneville Update

We received this photo of the two Healey Bonneville cars yesterday (click on the photo to see a larger version).  ARe those gorgeous cars, or what?  As you can see, Steve Pike and crew are about ready to ship the cars to the United States.  We’re anxiously looking forward to seeing the cars at our 33rd Annual All British Field Meet, in Portland, on September 4 -7.  This will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see these very special cars, so be sure to register your car and plan to attend.

Portland Historic Vintage Races

Healeys were well represented at this years Portland Historic Vintage Races. The economy doesn’t seem to affect the hard core racer with over 200 cars in attendance. This event is part car show part vintage car race with some very rare and well resorted makes. It draws competitors from all over the west coast and Canada which provides the spectator with a great diversity of cars to watch.

Read more and see the video of Doug Escriva racing.

AHCO own Doug Escriva won the HMSA award for the best prepared and presented vintage race car. His 1957 100-6 MM in the rare original Florida Green and OEW hardtop was quite a crowd pleaser.. The recently rebuilt race motor features three 2″ SI HUD 8 carburetors mounted on a rare period correct Ruddspeed high performance manifold. It also sports a full carpeted interior with light weight leather upholstered racing bucket seats.
