February Club Meeting Minutes
Austin Healey Club of Oregon Membership Meeting Minutes, February 13, 2010
Call to Order: by President Mark Schneider at 1:45 p.m. at Yaquina Bay Restaurant, 325 Airport Road, Albany, OR.
The meeting was started by George Koeber who introduced new member George Baker. George Baker said he purchased a 1955 Austin Healey BN1 on September 1, 2009 and was in the process of restoring it. George has been an avid American Car restorer and this is his first venture into the world of Austin Healeys.
Mark then thanked Charlie Frazer, Jim Averill, George Koeber and John Carter for arranging today’s great meeting at The Brass Ring Carousel in Downtown Albany.
While visiting the carousel site, members learned that the construction committee was selling commemorative bricks to raise funds for the construction of the building to house the carousel when it is completed. All those making a contribution by buying a brick will have their name inscribed on the brick that will become part of the new building. After considerable discussion regarding the source of Club funds to purchase a brick, a motion was made by Jaci Koeber to purchase a $200 brick that would carry the AHCO name and that funding be requested from the Charity Committee. Dennis Saxon seconded the motion. Glenn Enright explained how the Charity Committee determines funding for its donations including the process outlined in the Club Policies for proposing new requests for Charity donations. The makers of the motion asked Glenn to forward the request on to the Charity Committee for action. The motion was unanimously approved.
Officer’s and Committee Reports:
Vice President: John Wilson asked members if they knew where the Club property he is required to inventory is currently housed. Some members had knowledge of limited pieces and provided that information to John.
Treasurer: Mark advised he had received a report on Club finances from Gary Jackson and that Gary had reported that the Club is financially sound. Any member having questions regarding the details may contact Mark or Gary directly.
Activities: George Koeber advised that the March meeting would be held at British Auto Works in North Plains. This will be a tech session on SU carburetors. The meeting will follow at the Cornelius Pass Road House. The April meeting is scheduled as a back roads trip to Astoria, a guided tour of the historic John Warren House, and for those wishing to do so an overnight stay in Astoria at the Shilo Inn for $89. In May, Bill Boylan will lead a back roads tour to Longview, Washington. June will be Rendezvous in Eugene. July will be the Historic Races at PIR. For August, they are working on a joint meeting with the Cascade Club. George advised members to keep checking the Web Site for activities updates.
Advertising: No report.
Regalia: Before the meeting Jaci Koeber had all members present write their name on a small paper. Four names were drawn out of a hat and each winner received a shirt. The four winners were George Koeber (who promptly gave the shirt to our new member), Kent Lambert, Gail Nelson, and Bob Bollinger.
ABFM: No ABFM Representatives were present.
Rendezvous Committee: Charlie Frazer, Committee Chairperson, brought us up-to-date on the status of Rendezvous 2010. Charlie said that to date we have 35 registrations, which is good for this point in time. Charlie also advised that all persons who attended the past two Rendezvous have been sent a mailing advertising the 2010 Rendezvous. Also, Charlie showed us a color piece, which includes a registration form, which will appear in the next issue of the Healey USA magazine. In addition, the eight clubs representing the Rendezvous Council will receive black & white copies for their members.
Charity Committee: No report.
Old Business: There was nothing to report
New Business: Mark mentioned that the Club had been asked to participate in displaying Healeys at the recent International Auto Show at the Convention Center, but that the notice was too short to get cars for this year’s show. Further discussions with the Forest Grove Concours d’Elegance organizers revealed that this option might be available next year. We want to be kept informed so we can respond in a timely manner.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 2:30 pm
Jack Jakobsen, Secretary
